Scar Revision / Micro-Needling

What to Expect from Scar Revision & Microneedling

Scars, uneven skin texture, fine lines, and recurring breakouts can affect not only the appearance of your skin but also how comfortable you feel in it. Scar Revision & Microneedling is a treatment designed to improve the appearance and texture of the skin by stimulating its natural repair process.

Microneedling is a safe and effective procedure that encourages the skin to produce new, collagen-rich tissue. By creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin, the treatment stimulates the body's natural healing response, supporting collagen production and gradual skin renewal.

At Paramedic.Ink, microneedling can help improve the appearance of visible scars, acne scarring, uneven skin texture, fine lines, and certain types of pigmentation. The goal is to soften the appearance of scars, smooth uneven areas, and encourage healthier-looking skin over time.

The Consultation

Every appointment begins with a consultation. During this appointment, we'll discuss your concerns, skin history, previous treatments, and desired outcome.

We'll assess the area and establish a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.

Not all scars and skin conditions respond in the same way, so understanding the type of scar, its age, and the condition of the surrounding skin is an important part of achieving the best possible results.

The Procedure

Microneedling works by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This stimulates the body's natural healing response and encourages the production of collagen, a structural protein that helps support the skin's strength, elasticity, and texture.

Over time, this process can help break down and remodel built-up scar tissue, soften uneven areas, and improve the overall appearance of the skin.

The treatment is performed gradually, allowing the skin to repair itself between appointments. As collagen production and tissue remodelling take place, improvements in skin texture and scar appearance develop progressively rather than overnight.

Does It Hurt?

Your comfort is a priority throughout the procedure. You may experience some discomfort, sensitivity, or a prickling sensation during treatment, depending on the area being treated and your individual pain threshold.

Topical numbing products will be used to help minimise discomfort.

The skin's response varies from person to person, and every effort is made to ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible.

Immediately After Treatment

Immediately after microneedling, the skin may appear red, feel warm, or look slightly swollen. Temporary sensitivity and pinpoint bleeding may also occur, depending on the intensity of the treatment.

These responses are generally part of the skin's natural healing process. The initial redness usually settles over the following days, although recovery time varies depending on the treatment depth and individual skin response.

Following the recommended aftercare instructions is essential to protect the skin while it heals and to support optimal results.

Healing & Treatment Plan

Microneedling works progressively, and multiple appointments are generally needed to achieve meaningful improvements.

For scar revision and texture improvement, approximately 5–12 appointments may be required, depending on the severity of the scarring, the condition of the skin, and your desired outcome.

Appointments are spaced 4+ weeks apart to allow the skin sufficient time to recover, produce new collagen, and remodel scar tissue between treatments.

With each session, gradual improvements in skin texture, scar softness, and overall appearance may become more noticeable. However, the number of appointments required varies, and complete scar removal cannot be guaranteed.

How Long Do the Results Last?

The collagen produced during the healing process can provide long-lasting improvements to skin texture and the appearance of scars. However, results vary depending on the type of scarring, the skin's natural healing response, lifestyle factors, and adherence to aftercare.

The skin continues to age naturally, and conditions such as acne may cause new scarring to develop. Maintenance treatments may be beneficial in some cases, depending on your individual needs.

It is important to remember that scar revision aims to improve the appearance and texture of the skin rather than erase scars completely.

More Than Skin Deep

Scar Revision & Microneedling is about more than improving the surface of your skin. It is about supporting your skin's natural ability to repair itself and helping you feel more comfortable and confident in your own skin.

At Paramedic.Ink, every treatment is approached with care, attention to detail, and realistic expectations. Your skin is unique, and your treatment plan should be too.

Healing takes time, but every step can bring you closer to feeling more comfortable in your skin.
